CyrusOne’s ex-VP of data center design, John Hatem, will rejoin the company on October 5 as executive VP and COO.

Hatem worked at CyrusOne overseeing data center design, construction, and operations until he left in April 2019 to become an independent data center consultant.

There and back again

Now rejoining CyrusOne, Hatem will be in charge of the company's global operations, design and solutions engineering, construction, and information technology.

In addition to Hatem’s rehiring, CyrusOne also announced the resignation of Kevin Timmons, the company’s executive VP, and CTO.

Bruce W Duncan, president and CEO of CyrusOne, said: “On behalf of the entire Board and all of our teammates, I would like to thank and recognize Kevin Timmons for his leadership at CyrusOne for the past nine years.

“We wish Kevin the best of luck in his future endeavors.”

Hatem said: “I am excited to take on this new role at CyrusOne as we develop new sustainable data center solutions for our customers across the world.

“The need for energy-efficient designs is only growing, and I look forward to working with our engineering teams in developing and deploying solutions for our customers."

Before joining CyrusOne in 2011, Hatem served as the director of design and construction for ConceptCSI Global Data Center Solutions.

Hatem started his career as a network operations engineer, working with the likes of JPMorgan, Deutsche Bank, and Morgan Stanley.

“For more than two decades, John Hatem has been at the forefront of data center design and innovation,” Duncan said.

“He brings a unique combination of engineering prowess with business acumen and is the right choice to help accelerate CyrusOne’s growth.

“John has been on the front line with our customers and understands how to innovate and deploy the next generation of cloud infrastructure in the United States, Europe, and across the globe.”
