UK data center firm Kao Data has appointed Doug Loewe as its new chief executive officer (CEO).
The company announced the leadership change this week, with Loewe taking the helm with immediate effect.
Loewe has previously held positions at companies including Macquarie Asset Management (from where he joined Kao), Virtus, Yondr, Interxion, Rackspace, Cable & Wireless, and CompuServe Network Services.
“For almost a decade, Kao Data has established an enviable reputation as a pioneer within the fields of AI and high-performance computing (HPC), and the company’s award-winning infrastructure, technical and operations teams are already trusted to host some of the industry’s most demanding, mission-critical compute environments,” said Loewe. “With a rich heritage of delivering data center excellence, and underlying principles that ensure sustainability and ESG are at the heart of every decision, it was a natural fit with the high-achieving values I have always held close, and I’m glad to join the organization to lead the company’s next stage of corporate growth.”
Kao’s former CEO Lee Myall announced he was stepping down from the role in April 2023. He led the company since 2020 and is now CEO of UK fiber firm Neos Networks.
Kao founder and chairman David Bloom had been acting as the company's interim CEO since Myall stood down.

Kao was launched in 2015, and its Harlow campus opened in 2018. A second building at the campus has opened, as well as a data center in Slough. It also operates a former Barclays data center in Northolt and is planning a new campus in Manchester that was announced last year.
