Camarena joined Kio in 2013 and has led the company’s technological infrastructure service over recent years. He has 22 years of experience in the IT services industry, including being the CEO of Masnegocio, a Kio-managed SaaS firm.

Tim Formuziewich, the chairman of the board of directors, extended his thanks to Sapien for ‘his loyalty and dedication to the company, employees, and customers’ after 13 years of company service, adding that he looks forward to working with Sapien in his role as a Kio board member.

“I would also like to welcome Octavio as the new CEO and thank both Jorge and Octavio for the seamless transition,” said Formuziewich.

Sapien joined Kio in 2010 and had roles across the company before becoming the CEO in 2021. Sapien was heavily involved in the company’s expansion across Panama, Spain, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.

Kio said Sapien is leaving his position as part of the company's succession plan.

Kio, acquired by I Squared Capital in 2021, currently operates 20 data centers in Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, Colombia, and Spain. The company’s 13 core data centers offer a combined 26MW of IT capacity.
