Dutch telco KPN has announced the acquisition of Primevest Capital Partners' fiber network in the Netherlands.

The fiber network consists of 127,000 homes in urban areas in The Hague, Rotterdam, and Eindhoven.

According to KPN, the acquisition is a key part of its strategy to expand its fiber network to cover more than 80 percent of the country by 2026.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it's expected to close by the end of this month.

"The acquisition of Primevest’s fiber network is a welcome addition to our existing fiber footprint, which totals four million households," said Wouter Stammeijer, chief technology & digital officer and member of the board of management of KPN.

"We’ve been making strong progress with our fiber rollout, which is at the heart of our strategy. In the next few years, we will be fully focused to complete this project."

On top of providing broadband services, KPN also provides mobile and TV services in the country.
