As reported by Lake County.gov website, the fire on Sunday, July 21, was one of two reported in the county that were caused by lightning. It happened moments after a substation in Grand Island, an unincorporated area of Lake County, caught fire at 6.44 pm local time yesterday.

That particular fire led to nearly 10,000 homes across the region losing power.

The extent of the damage caused to the cell tower and surrounding area is unknown.

According to a Lake County Florida Emergency Management post on social media, utility company Duke Energy worked through the night to restore power.

Both fires were extinguished swiftly, noted local officials, stating that power should be fully restored today (July 22), weather permitting.

There were no injuries reported.
