The company said its data centers, located on the island which sits in the Irish Sea between the UK and Ireland, offer a secure and politically stable environment on a separate landmass within the UK Customs Zone yet less than 10 milliseconds latency from all UK city hubs.

The new division provides colocation services from two data centers on the island, built to Tier III standards. The 8,230 sq ft (764 sqm) Douglas North facility offers capacity for 280 racks across three data halls. The Greenhill facility offers capacity for 211 racks across two data halls, totaling 7,600 sq ft (706 sqm).

Stephen Kane, director of commercial strategy at Manx Telecom Group, said: "The Isle of Man and Manx Telecom have long been valued by blue chip financial services businesses, the public sector, award-winning managed service providers, [and] also global eGaming operators, as a premier destination for high-quality Tier III-standard data hosting.”

He continued: “Owing to its unique geographical location and highly resilient low latency submarine networks, Manx Telecom Group data centers offer the ideal solution for companies across the UK and EU, in particular those seeking secure and compliant data storage options on a separate landmass but within in the UK Customs Zone."

The unit will be led by Dave Cartwright. Prior to Manx, Cartwright was with Zayo Group, and has previously held roles at Iron Mountain, Volta, and Cable & Wireless, amongst others.

Cartwright said: "We're dedicated to providing our customers with reliable services. Our goal is to offer businesses agile and easy-to-implement solutions, backed by our established infrastructure and connectivity."

Founded by BT in 1985, Manx Telecom is the primary provider of broadband and telecommunications on the Isle of Man. After being acquired by Telefónica in 2006, HgCapital in 2010, and floating in 2014, Manx Telecom has been owned by Basalt Infrastructure Partners since 2019.

The Isle of Man is a self-governing British Crown dependency in the Irish Sea between England and Ireland. There are two cables (Lanis-1 and E-LLAN) connecting the island directly to mainland UK; one connecting directly to Northern Ireland (Lanis-2); One connecting it to Northern Ireland and mainland UK (BT-MT-1); and one connecting the island to Ireland and mainland UK (Havhingsten/CeltixConnect-2 (CC-2).

As well as the Manx Telecom operator, the wider group includes MSP provider Synapse360, smart SIM provider OV, and eSIM provider SmartRoam.
