LinkedIn was acquired by Microsoft for $26.2 billion in 2016. After operating its own data centers, it was slowly shifted over to Microsoft Azure starting in 2019. The cloud platform does not appear to be experiencing any wider issues.

In 2023 it was revealed that the social media company was pausing its move to the cloud to “focus efforts on scaling and innovating our on-prem infrastructure.”

At the time, the company told DCD that it operated out of four primary data centers.
