Australian data center operator NextDC has received Nvidia DGX-Ready certification.

With the certification, NextDC will be able to support Australian organizations with digital infrastructure architectures designed for Nvidia's artificial intelligence (AI) platforms.

NextDC's chief customer and commercial officer, David Dzienciol, said: "This certification with the Nvidia DGX-Ready Data Center program highlights our strategic focus for this important growth category, and we are delighted to work with Nvidia to accelerate the development, design and deployment of our AI data center infrastructure.”

In addition to being able to access Nvidia infrastructure options in NextDC data centers, the NextDC AI data center network now supports a variety of AI technologies for advanced computing, whilst also addressing the many AI infrastructure challenges typically associated with facilities planning, high-density power distribution, and liquid-cooling solutions.

NextDC's AI data centers are already classified as liquid-cooled ready.

"As AI adoption grows, many organizations are eager to secure efficient infrastructure to run AI workloads, but may not want to build and maintain their own data centers,” added Tony Paikeday, senior director of AI systems at Nvidia.

“Through the Nvidia DGX-Ready Data Center program, NextDC offers enterprises a cost-effective solution that provides access to state-of-the-art facilities and comprehensive services to help enterprises rapidly scale AI initiatives across their organizations.”

Earlier this year, NextDC was looking to raise AU$1.3 billion ($848.5m) to fund its expansion plans.

The company operates or is developing data centers across Australia, including in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Port Hedland, Canberra, the Sunshine Coast, Darwin, and Adelaide.

It has six sites in Sydney alone and acquired a 13.5MW facility in the city’s Artarmon suburb last month for AU$184 million (US$121.5m). Now known as S6, NextDC claims it is “Australia's first data center designed exclusively for AI factories and sovereign AI.”

NextDC is also looking to expand internationally, with data centers in Japan, Malaysia, and New Zealand in the pipeline.
