The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has awarded NTT Data the status of 'prime contractor' for its IT services.
As part of the deal, NTT Data will provide IT services to the Bureau via the FBI's Information Technology Supplies and Support Services 2nd Generation (ITSSS-2) Blanket Purchase Agreement. The company can apply for contracts valued up to $8bn.
The contract is set to last for eight years, and will see NTT Data provide business, delivery, platform, infrastructure, and IT solutions and services using existing and emerging technologies to meet the FBI’s and the DOJ’s critical mission needs.
“We understand the importance of maintaining high levels of IT support services for the DOJ’s agencies including the FBI,” said Kevin Durkin, president for federal government services at NTT DATA. “We are honored to expand our strong relationship with the FBI and the DOJ to significantly improve their IT performance, reliability, and security, and enable their mission-critical activities to operate efficiently and effectively.”
Other companies included in the ITSSS-2 award are Buchanan & Edwards in partnership with Metrostar, and Technica Corp among others.
The ITSSS-2 is an IT services vehicle that will provide IT services to the law enforcement agency and will also be available to the broader Department of Justice for use.
NTT Data provides business and technology services to customers. The company invests $3.6 billion annually in R&D. NTT Data is part of the NTT Group and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
In 2023, the FBI awarded Edgewater a $138 million data center contract to manage 9,500 servers for the Bureau. Edgewater was set to place employees at FBI sites in Pocatello, Idaho; Huntsville, Alabama; and Morgantown, West Virginia.
