Nvidia's real-time 3D graphics collaboration platform Omniverse is coming to Apple's Vision Pro augmented reality headset.

The cloud APIs will stream from Nvidia's Graphics Delivery Network (GDN), a global network of more than 100 data centers.

"Spatial computing is limited by the compute on the device," Nvidia's accelerated computing VP Ian Buck told DCD in a pre-briefing ahead of the company's GTC conference.

"Traditional spatial workflows require developers to decimate their datasets - in essence, to gamify them. This doesn't work for industrial workflows where engineering and simulation datasets for products, factories, and cities are massive."

Buck added that the GDN service allowed for "developers to beam their applications and datasets with full RTX real-time physically based rendering directly into Vision Pro with just an Internet connection."

CEO and founder Jensen Huang said: "It is very, very strange that you walk around virtual doors," discussing a Nissan Omniverse demo streamed to the headset.

Apple's Vision Pro launched on 2 February in the US, with prices starting at $3,499. It is estimated to have sold around 200,000 units in its opening week.
