Nvidia has developed an Earth-2 climate digital twin cloud platform to simulate the planet.

The Earth simulation APIs offer AI models and employ a new generative AI model called CorrDiff, which generates 12.5x higher resolution images than current numerical models 1,000x faster, and 3,000x more energy efficient, the company claimed.

“Climate disasters are now normal — historic droughts, catastrophic hurricanes and generational floods appear in the news with alarming frequency,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia.

“Earth-2 cloud APIs strive to help us better prepare for — and inspire us to act to moderate — extreme weather.”

CorrDiff is currently optimized for Taiwan but planned for the wider world.

Nvidia is partnering with The Weather Company and Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration as part of the project.

At the same time, Nvidia is continuing to court the major fossil fuel companies to build data center and AI solutions that help with extraction.

In a job listing, the company said that it was seeking an "expert sales professional with a validated successful track record of leading enterprise accounts in oil & gas along with the utility industry."

The hire "must have verifiable executive relationships with companies such as BP, Shell, Halliburton," and others.
