Orange is to deploy solar panels on the roof of a data center in Warsaw, Poland.
“We have signed a contract for the construction of a photovoltaic installation on the roof of the Warsaw Data Hub, Orange's state-of-the-art data processing center,” energy firm GreenYellow said on LinkedIn this week. “We will finance it, build it, and watch over its proper operation, and all the energy it produces will be used for the current needs of the facility.”
The 20-year contract will see GreenYellow install solar panels on the facility located in Lesznowla, to the south of Warsaw.
The facility will be equipped with 299kWp of photovoltaic (PV) systems, expected to generate 250MWh of power annually.

We are sure that our cooperation will bring benefits to both parties and open up new development opportunities.”
Orange launched its Warsaw Data Hub in 2021. The facility contains four 400 sqm (4,305 sq ft) data halls. The company previously signed a 20-year deal with Columbus Energy for solar panels at the data center back in 2022 – it’s unclear if they were ever deployed.
The Polish unit of the French telco has previously signed a deal to deploy solar panels at its Łódź data center, as well as at its Bercenay-en-Othe teleport in France. In Romania, 650 solar panels had been installed on three interconnection centers in Constanța, Brașov, and Timişoara, as well as 133 network sites as of last year.
In Africa, Orange is deploying solar at data centers in the Ivory Coast – in Yamoussoukro and Grand Bassam – and Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou.
