In a recent LinkedIn post, the company said these panels will generate 1,030 MWh of power annually, amounting to approximately 25,700 MWh over a lifespan of 25 years.

The power is currently fully used by the SH1 data center and is estimated to save the equivalent of 8,221 tons of coal.

The SH1 data center in Shanghai was launched in 2021 and offers 42.3MW of IT capacity. Within the country, PDG operates two facilities in Beijing, and one each in Nanjing, Guangzhou, Nantong, and Xian.

PDG has said it is committed to transitioning its data centers to renewable or zero-carbon energy options, with a plan to achieve net zero for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030. In June last year, the company signed an agreement to procure solar energy for its data center projects in India.

PDG was set up with the help of Warburg Pincus in 2017 and is currently building or running 20 data centers across China, Singapore, India, Japan, Indonesia, and Malaysia. At full build-out, its currently planned portfolio will total more than 600MW.

In Tianjin, China, Tencent installed a new solar-powered microgrid to generate enough energy to power 6,000 households earlier this year.

Elsewhere in the APAC region, Microsoft has recently signed a 200MW PPA in Singapore.
