A new Blockchain firm aims to deploy containerized data centers at a number of solar farms across Australia, as well as at its planned community developments for people with disabilities.
Phaeton Technology this week said it plans to deploy eight modular data centers at its sister company Phaeton Energy’s microgrid solar farms across Australia.
The modules measure 28.8 square meters (310 sq ft) and are based on international sea container sizes. K-Star is manufacturing the external structure, while Phaeton Networks will provide and install the required servers, link to satellites, remote management, and security systems.
Phaeton Energy is planning to develop solar farms in New South Wales and Western Australia:
- Berrigan, NSW; 4MW of panels, 16MW of batteries, and two data center modules
- Augusta, WA; 2.5MW panels, 8MW of batteries, and one data center module
- Mullewa 1, WA; 1.5MW panels, 6MW of batteries, and one data center module
- Mullewa 2, WA; 1.5MW panels, 6MW of batteries, and one data center module
- Dalwallinu Shire, WA; 1.5MW panels, 6MW of batteries, and one data center module
- Port Denison, WA; 2.5MW panels, 8MW of batteries, and two data center modules
Founded last year and based in Freemantle, Phaeton Technology offers blockchain technologies powered by renewable energy. As well as data centers, the company is aiming to develop blockchain-powered smart homes & real estate, and solar farms to power its blockchain.
The company also said it will be deploying modular facilities at its planned ‘Smarter Communities’ at locations in Mandurah and Karratha, Western Australia.
The Mandurah Station will reportedly consist of 32 apartments made up of 10 National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) apartments and 22 affordable co-living rental apartments. A commercial section accommodates an NDIS Therapy Hub and an enterprise coffee shop to train and provide work for people with disabilities. A data center will be located on the top floor and powered by the solar array.
The Karratha project is a mixed-use development located directly opposite the new Karratha Health Campus; the project includes 28 Serviced Apartment Medi-hotel catering for regional medical staff and patients visiting the Karratha Health Campus. It also has the therapy hub, coffee shop, and data center combination.
Phaeton executives’ previous experience includes roles in architecture & development firms, application development, and energy plant management. The company has raised more than $1.5 million from tokenization.
Timelines for the solar farms, community developments, or module deployments weren’t shared.
