Critical power firm Powertecnique launched software package "PowerVue” which the company says will remotely manage uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and diesel generator equipment 24/7 365 days a year.

PowerVue will 'relieve business owners from the headache' of equipment monitoring with functions to diagnose, test and potentially remotely fix any problems.

The software uses protective power from the UPS and alerts if the box has lost communication to the equipment. It has a separate backup battery that will last three-to-four hours while engineers attend site to carry out any repairs.

It claims it can dramatically improve the first time fix / fix-without-attendance rate.

To ensure PowerVue is always connected, Powertecnique said the central control unit will automatically connect with the strongest mobile signal available, using GPRS and GSM which the company said means PowerVue does not pose a security risk.

Darren Pearce, Powertecnique’s MD said the software will combine remote monitoring with a service agreement.

“A lot of existing systems aren’t fully managed and only notify the customer that there is a problem. They don’t say what the problem is, nor do they automatically notify an engineer. But that’s where the PowerVue package is different,” Pearce said.

The company recently gained accreditation for five of its eKasar UPS units from the government's Energy Technology List (ETL) through the Carbon Trust meaning its customers may claim additional tax relief capital allowances.

Peter Chai-Tsai, Powertecnique said : "We’re always keen to improve efficiencies for our customers and our eKasar range is designed to deliver maximum protection for critical users, with low impact on the mains power supply."
