The 72MW hyperscale facility comes with two unnamed anchor tenants using up 16MW of its total capacity, and was built in 10 months.

DC2 is adjacent to the company’s 200MW Atlanta-Metro Data Center (DC1).

Chad Williams, CEO of QTS said: “We are opening our new mega data center on our Atlanta Metro campus to expand our growth opportunity with hyperscale, large enterprise, and government organizations in the Southeast. Atlanta Metro DC2 represents QTS’ third mega data center in the greater Atlanta area, further solidifying our presence as Atlanta’s market leader.”

QTS specializes in large data center builds; in Hillsboro, Oregon, the company is building a 158,000 sq ft (14,700 sq m) data center encompassing 85,000 sq ft (7,900 sq m) of leasable space and 27MW of gross power capacity. But the company hopes that the 92-acre site will grow to include five data centers spanning 1.5 million gross sq ft (139,000 sq m) with more than 1 million sq ft (93,000 sq m) of leasable capacity and more than 250MW of gross power capacity. In October, the company opened its first phase, a 4.5MW facility on its Hillsboro campus.
