Fujitsu has announced its vShape reference architecture will now support the integration of NetApp clustered Data ONTAP.

This architecture will integrate Fujitsu’s x86 PRIMERGY servers, Brocade’s switches and NetApp’s storage systems to provide enterprises with a scale-out shared infrastructure that has the ability to expand near unlimited data growth.

Fujitsu has synchronised all elements for defined software package sizes, and its vShape is said by the three companies to offer a single solution.

The completely virtualized vShape solution is an enterprise-class appliance that the company says ensures that information and communication technology systems are flexible enough to support businesses by coping with future use cases while directly addressing the challenges of managing rapid data growth.

vShape will allow enterprises to scale out within a single storage system, providing virtualized shared infrastructures that are designed for non-disruptive operations throughout a system’s life time.

The enhancements will allow companies to decouple their IT from application life cycles and switch to an ‘operating concept’ instead of a dedicated hardware stack, giving them a flexible way to deal with data growth and data management challenges.

Fujitsu, Storage Business, VP Bernhard Brandwitte said: “Every business has constantly changing and evolving IT requirements, but they all have exponential growth of their data in common.”
