Indonesian conglomerate Salim Group is reportedly looking to move into developing data centers in the country.

Bloomberg reports the company is seeking to arrange financing for building and operating data centers at its industrial parks.

The Jakarta-based group, owned by Anthoni Salim, is reportedly in talks with banks to seek about $500 million worth of loans to fund the digital infrastructure.

The plan would see Salim Group invest about $100 million per industrial park.

Salim Group own interests in a broad range of companies, including food through Indofood Sukses Makmur, automotives through Indomobil Group, and supermarkets through Indomaret. The company also owns the Elshinta Media Group.

Data center company PT DCI Indonesia announced in June it was building its H2 data center in an industrial park owned by Salim in Karawang. Anthoni Salim owns an 11 percent stake in DCII.

Salim Group's Hong Kong-listed investment holding company First Pacific also controls Philippine telco PLDT, which is reportedly looking to raise $500 million selling its own data centers. The telco’s ten data centers have a combined capacity of 72MW and run by a subsidiary called ePLDT could be sold in a sales-leaseback deal, according to Bloomberg.
