Telstra's Whispir cloud communications service, previously only available in Australia, is now available internationally.

The Australian telco's Whispir Conversation Platform is a software-as-a-service enterprise communications service, which lets organizations talk to customers and employees through SMS, voice, web, email, mobile data, and social media networks. Previously offered through Telstra to enterprise and government customers in Australia, it is now available to new customers in Singapore and elsewhere through Telstra’s global network.

In Singapore, the platform is understood to be already to be implemented by the Changi Airport Group.

“In less than two years, Whispir’s customer base has quadrupled to more than 1.6 million users and with today’s expansion, we see significant growth opportunities for this service in Singapore, particularly when delivered over Telstra’s global network extending to more than 2,000 Points of Presence,” said Nathan Bell, director of marketing, Portfolio and Pricing, Telstra Global Enterprise and Services.

“This is just one of many cloud-based applications now integrated into our global network and available on-demand, enabling customers to respond quickly to changing business priorities and better anticipate challenges ahead,” he said.

Whispir CEO Jeromy Wells said the move would help accelerate the business' international growth, particularly in vertical markets such as the financial, media, transportation and emergency services sectors. Outside of Australia, New Zealand and the United States, Whispir also has an office in Singapore.

“In partnership with Telstra, we’re looking forward to continuing our global expansion and working with their international customers to transform and enrich the way they communicate with key stakeholders,” said Wells.

Telstra has embraced cloud services in a big way. The Australian telecommunications and information services company also recently launched a global cloud-based unified communications service, which it says is hosted out of the cities of New York, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, as well as the pre-existing setup in Australia.
