"I'm thrilled to announce my return from a one-year sabbatical, stepping into a new role," Pellegrino said, pointing to Hyperion Research, which showed the benefits of using the cloud for HPC.

Pellegrino was previously the president of intelligent platform solutions at Smart Global Holdings, the company that owns AI and HPC data center business Penguin Solutions.

There, he also acted as CEO of Penguin Computing, and helped build out Meta's generative AI data center infrastructure. For Shell, he deployed a large immersion-cooled data center, as well as two large DoD systems.

Prior to the role at Smart Global, Pellegrino spent some 22 years at Dell, most recently as VP of workloads and solutions and GM of HPC.
