The company shared that it was working on the facility, located north of Zurich’s City Center in Glattfelden, earlier this year.

Set on 1 acre, the two-story facility offers a total of 226,000 square feet (21,000 sqm) of space and 24MW of critical IT capacity. The company has reportedly invested more than CHF 370 million ($405 million) into the project.

Vantage said it has installed air source (ASHP) and water source (WSHP) heat pumps within ZRH2 that will convert waste heat for use in administrative spaces. ZRH2 will also provide waste heat to a nearby hotel and seminar center. Vantage said ZRH2 will leverage rainwater infiltration and a green roof to minimize environmental impacts. It will feature a unique wood-finished facade.

After acquiring the land in February 2020, Vantage opened the first data center on its ZRH1 campus in Winterthur in December 2021. Once fully developed, the seven-acre, four-building campus will offer 40MW of capacity.

Across Europe, Vantage has campuses in operation and development in Germany (Berlin and Frankfurt), the UK (London and Cardiff), Italy (Milan), Poland (Warsaw), Switzerland (Zurich), and South Africa (Johannesburg). It has previously filed to develop a campus in Dublin, Ireland.
