Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) has launched a new data center outside Hanoi.

The state-owned telco this week announced the launch of the 23,000 sqm (247,570 sq ft) facility – known as VNPT IDC Hoa Lac in the Hoa Lac High-Tech Park in the Thach That district, Ha Tay province.

The new facility is able to accommodate up to 2,000 racks. It is certified Tier III with Uptime.

"VNPT now operates eight data centers in several locations including Hanoi, Da Nang, and HCM City, each one adhering to stringent domestic and international standards,” said Mr. Huynh Quang Liem, CEO of VNPT. “Our data center in Hoa Lac is the largest and most advanced in the country and is poised to offer the nation premier data services, tailor-made to meet the diverse requirements of both domestic and international clients.”

At the opening ceremony, VNPT announced Memoranda of Cooperation with China Telecom Global, VCCorp Stock Company, and True IDC around using storage services at VNPT IDC Hoa Lac.

Gaw is developing a 20MW facility in Ho Chi Minh City. Local telcos Vittel and CMC Telecom are both developing facilities in Ho Chi Minh City, while NTT is developing one in partnership with QD.Tek. Australian Edge firm Edge Centres launched a small facility in the city last year.
