Telecommunications engineer firm HG Comms has been acquired by French infrastructure company Vinci.

The terms of the acquisition were undisclosed, but are reported by ISP Review to have been undertaken and completed by Cobra IS, a Vinci subsidiary company based in Madrid (Spain), which Vinci acquired in 2021 for $4.8 billion.

Based in Leicestershire, UK, HG Comms specializes in the survey, design, build, and maintenance of fiber networks across the UK. It counts British telco CityFibre as one of its bigger customers.

The acquisition of HG Comms is set to expand Vinci's UK footprint. Vinci operates in close to 120 countries and employs 260,000 people globally.

HG Comms managing director Noel Gaze has called the acquisition by Vinci "the next step in the journey" for the company, boosting its expansion strategy.
