The Slough Observer reports the company was granted permission by Slough Borough Council on July 24. Known as Building C, the planning documents suggest a 40MW, 25,100 sqm (270,175 sq ft) building comprising four data halls over two stories.

Located on the site of a former paint factory, the new data center follows the first facility, which was completed in July, and the second that is currently under construction.

The company said the new building will include a green living wall towards the canal to provide visual and acoustic shielding, as well as enhance biodiversity on the site.

Carl Fisher, design director EMEA at Yondr, said: “With the design for the third building on our London campus we have taken learnings from the previous two buildings and considered challenges to develop an exceptional data center design that will set the standard for environmental best practice in the data center sector.”

The campus is located at the former Uxbridge Road Gas Works and disused Akzo Nobel paint factory. The company first announced plans for the campus in November 2021. Construction of the first 20MW building began in 2022 and launched last month.

The second building has already begun construction and will add 30MW of capacity, though timelines for completion have not been shared.

Yondr’s VP of design & construction EMEA, Peter Hill, added: “Our team's collaboration with our partners, Slough Borough Council, and other stakeholders exemplifies what true excellence looks like. The seamless coordination and shared commitment to our vision have been pivotal in driving this project forward.”

Slough is one of the main data center hubs in the UK, with CyrusOne, NTT, Equinix, and Kao all having a presence in the area. It has continued to see development with Iron Mountain and Digital Realty both recently planning facilities in the town.
