David Richards

Quality & Training Manager, Global Solutions Integration, Black Box

David M. Richards, RCDD, NTS, OSP, TECH, CT, is the Quality and Training Manager for Global Solutions Integration at Black Box. He is a telecommunications design and installation graduate from Western Technical College. In the past 35 years, Richards has held positions in ICT product management, construction, operations, training, curriculum development, and QA/QC audits. Richards has been a BICSI Master Instructor and Certified Trainer since 2000, as well as an instructor for Moorpark College and the IEC Chesapeake low voltage apprenticeship program.

Richards has been a passionate volunteer BICSI Member and Installer community advocate since 2000. In 2005-06 Richards served as the BICSI U.S. Western Region Director where he spearheaded the creation and launch of BICSI’s IN250 Installer 2 – Optical Fiber course. In 2008, Richards founded the now annual BICSI Cabling Skills Challenge. More recently, Richards pushed for the creation of the newly adopted post nominal letters (INST1, INSTC, INSTF, and TECH) for all BICSI installation program credential holders.

Richards is currently serving as BICSI Board President and has been a technical presenter at multiple conferences and events both in the US and abroad. He has also served as a subject matter expert and editorial review board member for the last five editions of the BICSI Installation Methods Manual.
