This paper discusses the basics of sound, how it is measured, and defines enclosure sound levels. Those responsible for generator design and installation have to consider the local environmental impact noise will have on populated areas, and their considerations will have to consider noise regulations set by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and state and municipal noise ordnances.
