Stockholm – a circular city: The role of the data center as a resource in city infrastructure
As an undeniably energy intensive industry, the positive effects of data centers within society can often be overlooked. So in what ways can the industry give back to the local community? What are the latest developments in heat recovery and circular practices? And what role can data centers play in the transition of cities towards zero carbon emissions?
Now, three years after the launch of Stockholm Data Parks, this session will examine how the initiative has evolved and several recent decisions by data center operators to locate in Stockholm and engage in heat recovery. Erik will highlight what have been the success factors and challenges, as well as explain the business model behind the initiative. Hear how data centers fit in and contribute to the city infrastructure. Gain insight also into Stockholm Exergi’s Bio-Energy Carbon Capture and Storage initiative and how data centers may get involved in that.
