Fireside chat: Where do data centers fit into the European Commission’s plans?
The European Union's announcement of the Green Deal at the end of 2019 committed the industry to reach carbon neutrality by 2030, which triggered a major response from European cloud and data center operators, including AWS, Google and Equinix, who banded together to sign the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact. But is this self-regulating agreement transparent and far-reaching enough? How does the Green Deal impact data center operations in this decade & beyond? and how will future capacity requirements fit with the transition to a low carbon economy?
In this fireside chat, Manuel Mateo Goyet, Deputy Head of Unit - Cloud and Software, DG Connect, European Commission will speak with George Rockett and make clear the role of digital infrastructure to the European Green Deal.
