DCD>Debate: The ongoing power struggle - Can the industry reconcile density & performance?

North America's data centers face a crucial conundrum: the intersection of increasing density and increasing demands for power. New York's infrastructure was never built for such high demands, which has led to serious concerns about power reliability and outages. But is there a better picture in other parts of the US? The need for high-performance hardware, notably GPUs for AI, is challenging traditional power designs and threatens service reliability across all 50 states. Can AI’s hunger for power be tamed? Can the pursuit of sustainable power help? Or is it time to leave parts of the US behind?

Held under Chatham House Rule, DCD>Debates are open discussions led by a panel of experts, on the biggest issues to face the industry.
