Australian advisory and IT solutions provider Atturra is expanding its sovereign cloud capacity with a new deployment in NextDC's S3 data center in Sydney.
The expansion will enable Atturra to meet growing demand from clients for cloud computing and storage capacity, reports IT Brief Australia.
The company will begin deploying its hardware at the data center this month and is expected to be finished by December. From the NextDC S3 facility, Atturra will offer infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service to customers.
Chris McLaughlin, executive general manager of managed services at Atturra, said: "Increasing numbers of our clients are coming to realize that not all compute workloads are suited to the platforms provided by cloud hyperscalers. They appreciate the performance, scalability, and resilience that we can provide for both cloud-based and hybrid infrastructures."
The deployment will offer fluid resources for up to 36 servers and 400 terabytes of storage.
Atturra and NextDC have a longstanding relationship, with Atturra hosting its cloud in several NextDC facilities.
In addition to cloud computing services, Atturra will offer customers access to AI services.

In the future, Atturra expects to expand more in the NextDC S3 facility and has the option to deploy additional racks. McLaughlin said: "We will have the ability to double our capacity in this location. This will allow us to meet the growing needs of our clients, which will be fuelled by increasing business use of AI, well into the future."
The NextDC S3 data center is located in Artarmon, just outside of Sydney. Construction was completed at the site in June 2023, and the facility has more than 26,000 sqm (280,000 sq ft) of data halls and ancillary infrastructure space across nine levels, and 20,000 sqm (215,000 sq ft) of IT space, with a capacity of 80MW across 10,800 racks.
Last month, Atturra acquired IT consultancy Exent for AU$6 million (US$3.87m).
Atturra is based in Sydney, Australia, and has traditionally catered to government and defense customers. The company acquired Cirrus Networks in December 2023.
Sovereign clouds are preferred by the Australian government due to the reassurance that data is stored within the country's boundaries. Oracle launched a government cloud region in Canberra in August 2023.
Last month, Amazon Web Services (AWS) revealed that it was building a data center and cloud system for the Australian government that would be "fully sovereign" and would handle top-secret information.
