Brazilian telecoms firm Brasil TecPar has acquired a data center in Joinville, Brazil.

The newly-acquired facility is located in Joinville, the largest city in Brazil’s southern Santa Catarina region. The facility was built and operated by Miguel Abuhab, founder of supply chain management provider Neogrid; Adolfo Reimer and Júlio Dugaich, both of IT services firm Sercompe.

Reports suggest the Neogrid data center in Joinville has an area of 300 sqm (3,200 sq ft) of raised floor and capacity for up to 130 racks. In operation since 2012, the site offers colocation services, virtual servers, corporate Internet, and metropolitan network.

The acquisition is Brasil TechPar’s first outside the state of Rio Grande do Sul, and the new data center will be renamed to Ávato Data Center. The company plans further expansion across Brazil.

“This new infrastructure joins the existing one in Rio Grande do Sul, reinforcing and improving access and availability time to customers," said Gustavo Stock, founder and president of Brasil TecPar.
