Bridge Data Centres is planning a new Malaysian data center campus outside Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysian developer Mah Sing Group Berhad this week announced a move into the data center sector with the launch of Mah Sing DC Hub@Southville City.
Mah Sing Group said it has earmarked 150 acres of land at Southville City for further expansion into a data center hub with planned capacity of up to 500MW.
The project's first partner is Bain-owned Bridge Data Centres, with the company aiming to develop a 100MW data center site on 17.55 acres. Timelines for development weren’t shared.

We believe the comprehensive approach provided by Mah Sing will ensure that the data center will meet all regulatory requirements and be built to the highest standards, facilitating the creation of a state-of-the-art data center.”
Bridge currently has five other data centers in operation or development across Malaysia. The company announced plans for the first 16MW building at its MY03 site in Kuala Lumpur’s Mranti Park in 2021 and announced an expansion last year. The company operates two facilities in Cyberjaya with a third in development, and launched a data center outside Johor in 2022.

Mah Sing said Southville City is located 19kmfrom the Kuala Lumpur city center, and less than 50km from Telekom Malaysia's upcoming new cable landing station in Morib, which is set to host the SEA-ME-WE-6 submarine cable system. The landing station is due for completion in Q1 2025.
Founded as a manufacturer of plastics in the 1960s, Mah Sing ventured into property development in 1994. The company has 58 projects across more than 5,300 acres, spanning residential, township, office, retail, and industrial developments.
Bain bought Chindata in 2019 from Wangsu Science & Technology Co. and merged it with its portfolio firm Bridge Data Centres. The former owns and operates data centers in China, while the latter operates across APAC.
Bridge also has a facility in Thailand and is aiming to develop a 20MW data center in Navi Mumbai, India.
