Codisa partnered with Aristos Inmobiliaria on the build, with the latter investing around $30 million into the project.

Plans for the data center were first announced in December 2021. At the time, the facility was said to hold 322 racks and have a total capacity of 3.5MW.

The Altius park has eight office buildings and a data center for a total of 46,000 sqm (495,000 sq ft) of leasable area. All of the buildings on the site are be powered by a solar farm located at the technology park.

The facility is also the first Uptime Tier III certified colocation facility in the country. Banco de America Central also has a Tier III certified facility in the country, in San Marcos.

The DataTrust data center was inaugurated by President Bukele. Bukele noted that the technology park represents an investment of $70 million and is estimated to create around 4,000 jobs.

“One of the fundamental pillars of the country’s development is technological investment and we will continue to promote measures that allow more companies in the technology sector to come and invest in El Salvador,” said the president.

Founded in the early 1990s as a software firm, today Codisa operates three data centers in Costa Rica, outside San Jose in Tibás. They opened in 2009, 2014, and 2018.

The company said in December 2021 that it would continue to use the DataTrust name to operate data centers in other countries.
