Cologix closes deals in Vancouver and Montreal

In Vancouver, the acquired and renamed VAN5 offers 11,000 sq ft and 1.2MW. Located at 555 West Hastings Street in a 28-story office building, Cyxtera operated the former CenturyLink site as its YVR1 facility.

In Montreal, the newly acquired MTL12 offers 8,500 sq ft and 1.6MW. Located at 3000 Rene Levesque in Verdun, Cyxtera had operated the former CenturyLink site as its YUL1/MR1 facility. Cologix’s existing MTL1, MTL2, and MTL3 sites are all on the same street, with MTL2 located in the same building.

Brookfield closed its acquisition of bankrupt colo provider Cyxtera last month. As part of the deal, Brookfield acquired a number of sites leased to Cyxtera, exited or shortened a number of other leased sites, and sold two Canadian sites to Cologix (but hadn’t revealed details).

Terms of the acquisition weren’t shared.

Cyxtera still lists two data centers in Toronto; YYZ1 in Mississauga; and YYZ2 in Markham. Located at 6800 Millcreek Drive, YYZ1 offers 6.6MW 33,486 sq ft of raised floor space, while YYZ2 at 4175 14th Avenue offers 6MW across 62,884 sq ft of raised floor.

Expansion in Montreal and Toronto

Cologix has also expanded two of its existing facilities in Canada.

In Montreal, Cologix has expanded capacity at its MTL10 facility by 12,000 square feet and 4MW of power. Located at 530 Rue Bériault in Longueuil, the site offers more than 250,000 sq ft and 39MW.

In Toronto, Cologix is expanding capacity at its TOR1 facility by 2,400 sq ft and 400kW. Located in the 151 Front Street carrier hotel, the site now offers 27,400 sq ft.

Sean Maskell, president and general manager of Cologix Canada, said: “Cologix has strategically positioned itself in these thriving Canadian cities to provide cutting-edge data center solutions and foster the growth of businesses at the heart of technological innovation.

"Our recent expansions and acquisitions position us as the foremost provider and strategic partner for hyperscale, cloud services, enterprise, and carrier customers."

Cologix said it now has a Canadian portfolio of 22 data centers totaling more than 1.05 million sq ft and 94MW.
