The partnership will allow the 8MW facility to fulfil 60 percent of its yearly energy requirements through renewable sources.

CtrlS said it will provide renewable energy credits to all clients hosted within its 102,000 sq ft (9,500 sqm) Noida facility.

Sridhar Pinnapureddy, founder and CEO at CtrlS, said: “This project is expected to generate 100GWh of electricity over its lifetime, offsetting 94,640 tons of CO2 emissions. This environmental impact is equivalent to planting 189,281 trees. And this is just one of the many green initiatives that we shall announce this year.”

He added the company plans to achieve net zero by 2030. To achieve this goal, the company is investing in developing solar power projects across major markets in India.

CtrlS said it will use initiatives such as water recycling, direct-to-chip cooling, and liquid cooling to reduce energy consumption by up to 40 percent in the future.

Santanu Guha, CEO at SunSource Energy, said: “We are glad that CtrlS - Asia’s Largest Rated 4 Hyperscale data center operator, has chosen SunSource Energy to help accelerate their energy transition journey.”

He added: “As one of India’s leading solar power developers, we have been facilitating the energy transition of several C&I businesses for fourteen years with our solar solutions.”

CtrlS has facilities in Mumbai, Bangalore, and Kolkata, with additional Edge locations in Lucknow and Patna.

The company has more than 234MW of existing IT capacity and has planned developments in Uttarakhand and Gujarat, India. The company is also working on a 150MW campus in Thailand. The operator recently announced plans to launch a 13MW data center in Hyderabad, India, and broke ground on its 72MW facility in Chennai, India, in February.

Founded in 2010, SunSource Energy provides solar solutions to clients across data center, food and beverage, automobile, cement, and pharmaceutical industries.

Last month, AmpIn Energy Transition partnered with AWS to offset energy use in AWS’ Indian data centers.
