The company intends to invest around Rs 400 crore ($477.2m) in the facility, which will have 10MW of IT capacity and house approximately 1,000 racks at full build-out.

Patna is in the Bihar region of India, in the northeast of the country. The land parcel, size unspecified, was acquired through the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority.

Sridhar Pinnapureddy, founder and CEO of CtrlS Datacenters, said: "We are committed to developing a robust IT ecosystem in Bihar through our future-ready data centers, serving hyperscalers, enterprises, and startups. We extend our gratitude to the State government for providing a conducive policy environment, an industry-friendly business climate, and attractive incentives for our upcoming project."

Pinnapureddy added: "Together with our ecosystem partners, we will not only bring significant investments to the State but also generate employment opportunities in the region. In response to the market's demonstrated potential, CtrlS Datacenters is establishing this greenfield data center in Patna, for which we have now secured the land."

CtrlS has a network of 13 data centers either operational or in development in India located in Mumbai, Noida, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. The latter of which is set to offer more than 60MW of capacity, per a June 2024 announcement.

The company has more than 234MW of existing IT capacity and has planned developments in Uttarakhand and Gujarat, India. Earlier this year, CtrlS announced it had broken ground on its 72MW Chennai facility. The company is also working on a 150MW campus in Thailand.

The company also has Edge data centers in Lucknow and Patna. CtrlS aims to eventually have more than 20 Edge data centers in tier 2 and 3 cities in India.

Towards the end of 2023, CtrlS committed to investing $2bn over the next six years in expanding its data center capacity across Asia and the Middle East.

In 2022, VueNow proposed developing dozens of Edge data centers across the Bihar state including in Patna.
