DXN is to supply a modular prefabricated data center to Australian mining firm Stanmore.
In a recent company update, the company said it had been awarded a contract to build a modular data center for Stanmore Resources Limited (SMC).
The contract is valued at AU$1.9 million (US$1.2m). The module will be built at DXN’s factory in Perth and be delivered by July 2024.
The module will be deployed at the South Walker Creek mine in Queensland to “support future operations and future technologies” at the site.
DXN CEO Shalini Lagrutta said: “This project is a testament to the growth of Edge data centers requiring on-premises, on-site demand in the mining market segment where automation and local compute requirements continue to grow.”
The company has delivered dozens of modules to customers including AngloAmerican, gold-miner Newcrest to a site in New South Wales, as well as Boeing, Covalent Lithium, and Pilbara Minerals in Western Australia.
DXN has previously delivered a landing station module to Sub.co on the Cocos (Keeling) Islands for the Oman – Australia Cable, and to the island of Palau for the Meta/Google-led Echo subsea cable. It recently signed a deal to deliver another landing station to Timor-Leste.
The company recently said it will exit its Sydney data center in order to focus on its modular unit, and this month reaffirmed it is reviewing its options around two data centers in Darwin and Tasmania.
