Mobile operators in Gaza, Palestine, have reported widespread Internet disruption in the Gaza Strip.

It's the first reported outage in the troubled region for months.

As reported by the Internet monitoring website NetBlocks, carriers in the region noted connectivity issues yesterday evening (September 8).

NetBlocks stated that telcos have blamed the issues due to "ongoing aggression" while the "overall service remains significantly below pre-war levels."

"We regret to announce the suspension of home internet services in the central and southern areas of the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli aggression," read a joint statement from Palestinian telcos.

The last notable outage in the region lasted for around a week in January. Prior to this, several outages occurred between October to January.

Hamas killed more than 1,200 people in Israel in surprise attacks on October 7, with more than 200 Israeli citizens kidnapped by the terrorist group.

Israel's government responded with military action, and at least 40,000 people have been killed in Gaza since October 7, according to its Ministry of Health, with more than 60,000 wounded.

Since the start of the war, Israel has blocked all but one delivery of fuel to Gaza, meaning resources have been scarce.
