The company this week announced that the construction of two new data halls with 2MW of capacity is currently underway. The project is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2025.

The additional capacity will be used to support high-density compute infrastructure for AI applications.

“We are excited to bring this additional capacity to market, expanding our current data center white space with an additional 2MW to support current and future customer needs,” said Atul Roy, CEO of Hudson IX. “This expansion marks a significant milestone for Hudson Interxchange, and provides us with the ability to support high-density racks to meet the AI and machine learning needs of emerging applications and providers in the digital infrastructure sector.”

Hudson IX has a direct feed from the utility provider, ConEd, and has access to 15MW of power. The company spans multiple floors at 60 Hudson Street with a current footprint totaling nearly 173,000 square feet (16,070 sqm).

60 Hudson is one of the most iconic data centers in the world. Built between 1928 and 1930 for use as telegraph company Western Union’s headquarters, the 24-story building was designed to be ‘the largest telegraph building in the world’ and the ‘Telegraph Capitol of America.’

Western Union sold the building in the 1940s but continued to occupy the site until the 1980s, after which it relocated to New Jersey, with the building becoming an AT&T telecoms hub.

The facility is now owned by Stahl-affiliated 60 Hudson Street LLC and managed by Colliers. Hudson IX, Digital Realty, NYI, and DataBank are among some of the building’s tenants.

Founded in 2011 and formerly known as DataGryd, Hudson IX was acquired by Cordiant Digital Infrastructure in early 2022 and rebranded later that year.

Atul Roy has been with Cordiant since 2021 as head of telecoms infrastructure. He took over from Hudson IX’s previous CEO, Tom Brown, in November 2023. Brown has since joined fiber manufacturing firm TiniFiber as president.
