European data center firm Global Technical Realty (GTR) has handed over the next phase of its London campus in the UK.

The build-to-suit company this week announced the successful handover of Phase 2 of its GB One campus, delivering an additional 13.5MW of power to its customer on schedule.

First announced in June 2021, GTR broke ground on the campus in Slough in early 2022. At full build-out, the campus will comprise three buildings, each offering 5,375 sqm (57,900 sq ft) and 13.5MW of capacity.

GTR said it is leasing the GB One site at the Slough Trading Estate from Segro. The first phase was completed ahead of time in late 2023.

Phase 3 remains on track for completion later in 2024, with the entire 40.5MW campus being delivered by year-end – ahead of original expectations. The campus is fully pre-leased.

“The GTR team has navigated various challenges with confidence and professionalism throughout the delivery process, with an unwavering commitment to building collaborative relationships, promoting transparency, and resolving issues collectively. This approach has been key to overcoming obstacles and achieving project goals,” said Franek Sodzawiczny, founder & CEO at Global Technical Realty. “We look forward to continuing our journey of excellence, as we now focus on the final phase of this significant project.”

Investment firm KKR announced it was committing $1 billion to set up a new hyperscale data center player in Europe in May 2020.

GTR is also developing data centers in Petah Tikva, Israel (due for delivery later this year), and Barcelona, Spain. The company has also been linked to another planned campus in the Southall area of West London.

Sodzawiczny, the founding CEO, previously founded two British data center colocation providers - Sentrum, which was sold to Digital Realty for around $1 billion in 2012, and Zenium, which sold to CyrusOne for $442 million in 2017.
