Internet services remain limited in Senegal as protests continue over the country's election delay.

The outage was flagged by NetBlocks, which notes that authorities have ordered the restriction of cellular data amid protests scheduled this afternoon over delayed elections.

Senegal had been preparing for its general election this month.

However, the country's President Macky Sall has pushed back the election to December.

Several opposition leaders have been barred from going up against Sall at the election, with the president claiming that the delay is needed to resolve a dispute over who is eligible to stand as a candidate.

Outages were first reported in Senegal last week, with restricted cellular services in Dakar, the country's capital.

During last week's general election in Pakistan, multiple regions across the country were hit by Internet blackouts.

Pakistan's election has been marred by controversy amid allegations of corruption and poll rigging.

One of the candidates, Imran Khan, leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, was jailed last week along with his wife Bushra Bibi after a district court ruled their 2018 marriage violated the law.

Despite this, the allies of Khan won the most seats in the election, but not enough to form a government.
