QTS is planning a new data center in Fort Worth, Texas.
First reported by the Dallas Morning News, QTS has refiled with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for a new data center project known as FTW1 DC2.
Located at 14100 Park Vista Blvd in Tarrant County, the company aims to develop a new two-story, 42MW data center as an “addition” to the company’s existing campus.
The building is set to span 471,875 sq ft (43,840 sqm) and see $220 million invested in the project.
Construction is due to run from March 2024 to April 2026.
QTS' existing facility on Park Vista Blvd offers 50MW across 263,000 sq ft (24,435 sqm). The campus is described on QTS’ site as 26 acres with 27 acres of adjacent land held for expansion.
The company acquired the data center in 2017. It was previously occupied by Health Care Services Corporation (HCSC).
In April 2022 QTS filed to expand the existing building, and develop a second building at the Fort Worth site.
The new filing suggests the size of FTW1 DC2 remains the same as before, but the costs and projected timeline have increased. The planned capacity of the facility was not previously shared.
As well as Fort Worth, QTS has Texas campuses in San Antonio and Dallas. In October 2023 Blackstone-owned QTS refiled plans for a data center in the Irving area of Dallas close to its existing Irving facility.
