Raxio Group has inaugurated a 1.5MW data center in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Backed by $30 million of investment, the data center spans 1,542 sqm (16,598 sq ft) and can house up to 400 racks.

The facility has received the Tier III design certification from Uptime Institute.

Plans for the data center were first revealed in March 2021, with the company breaking ground in September 2022.

“DRC is one of Africa’s largest and fastest-growing markets with an existing latent demand for digital products and services that is forecast to soar in the coming years. With this facility, we are providing the critical infrastructure essential to supporting the digital economy and enhancing connectivity – and we expect to expand our presence in DRC through additional capacity and new facilities in years to come.

Established in 2018, Raxio Group is part of the US-based Roha Group investment firm. The company's first data center launched in Uganda in 2021, and the company has since expanded into Ethiopia and Mozambique and has facilities planned in Côte d’Ivoire, Tanzania, and Angola.
