T-Mobile is using Google Cloud low-latency Edge capabilities running on the 5G Advanced standard.

The telco will use connect its 5G Advanced Network Solution (ASN) product suite to Google's Distributed Cloud Edge (GDC Edge) to support applications like AR and VR.

T-Mobile said Google's GDC Edge would allow the company to provide low latency, high speeds, and reliability for any use case that requires data-intensive computing processes.

Grand View Research expects the global Edge compute market to grow by 37.9 percent to $155.9 billion in 2030.

T-Mobile and Google Cloud have shown a retail Edge application at the 5G Hub within the operator’s Tech Experience demo center in Washington. The “magic mirror” is an interactive display for retail applications, which uses cloud-based processing and image rendering so users can hold a product in front of the mirror and see interactive videos or product details onscreen in near real-time.
