A development authority in Uttar Pradesh, India, has extended the registration date to show interest in a new data center scheme.

MoneyControl reports Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has extended the last date of registration in its data center plot scheme by two weeks to July 17.

Under the scheme, the Authority has five data center plots totaling around 100 acres located along the Yamuna Expressway between Delhi and Agra up for sale.

Three plots measuring 40,000 sqm (430,555 sq ft) and two plots of 20,000 sqm (215,280 sq ft), all in Sector 28 of Noida, are being offered under the scheme. Previous reports suggest the plots could provide up to 40MW.

The scheme started on June 12 and was set to run until July 3, but hasn’t received enough interest to move on to the next step.

At the time the process was launched, YEDIA said it was “anticipating [a] good response” for the scheme due to high data center demand in the area, but this hasn’t materialized as expected.

“Due to lukewarm response from bidders, the scheme has been given a rollover of 14 days. Now interested parties will be able to apply in the scheme till July 17,” a YEIDA official told Moneycontrol.

Only one or two applications each were received against the plots, but at least three bids are generally required received against each plot to advance it to the next stage of auction.

When the scheme was first announced in August 2021, some 30 IT companies, domestic and foreign, were believed to have expressed interest in investing in the park.

The Authority is expecting a revenue of around Rs 220 crore ($26.8m) from the auction of the data center plots, the YEDIA official told Moneycontrol.
