Tom Absalom

Managing Director, JCA Engineering

Tom has worked within the data centre industry for over 30 years (before it was called the data centre industry!!) having served an indentured apprenticeship with the leading UK manufacturer of data centre cooling products. A mechanical engineer by discipline, his career has provided a wide range of experience encompassing manufacturing, production engineering, product design (including UK, European and US patents) and more broadly M&E services design and build for critical environments.

To enhance commercial competence and to complement his engineering experience Tom completed his MBA in 2004. In 2006 Tom joined JCA, an owner-managed multi-faceted engineering company where he currently holds the position of Managing Director. He is responsible for all aspects of the business including the engineering divisions that provide design, project and maintenance services to a wide range of clients not just within the data centre sector but also healthcare, science and technology and commercial services.

As well as thriving on the challenges that operating the business generates, Tom is fully involved in the delivery of services to clients on a day-to-day basis and enjoys nothing more than engaging in the engineering detail.

Tom says of his current role: “The culture we have developed at JCA is very much client and delivery focused, with a genuine desire for collaborative client engagements built for the long-term. Combining this ethos with the privilege of working with the JCA team, unparalleled in strength and professionalism, my role is hugely rewarding.”
