Artificial intelligence (AI) cloud provider Consensus Core has selected Cologix's Montreal data center for its Canadian deployment.

From Cologix's MTL10 data center, Consensus Core will offer its Nvidia-powered GPU-as-a-Service to the Canadian market.

The AI cloud is designed for tasks like machine learning and 3D rendering which rely on GPUs and have massive parallel processing needs. Customers can access Nvidia GPUs - both H100s and A100s - on a per-hour basis from Consensus Core, a Nvidia partner.

Cologix's MTL10 is located at 530 Rue Bériault in Longueuil and was expanded in late 2023. According to the company's website, the facility spans 180,000 sq ft (16,722 sqm) and has 35MW of critical power capacity.

Several AI-focused clouds have emerged since the AI boom.

CoreWeave, a GPU cloud provider that pivoted away from crypto, raised $7.5 billion in debt financing earlier this year. Earlier this month, another GPU cloud provider, Lambda, was seeking $800m in funding.

Other companies targeting AI clouds include Civo, Nscale, Nebul, and Foundry.
