DCI Indonesia has opened a new data center in Indonesian capital Jakarta.
The Tier IV facility, located at Ariobimo Sentral in downtown Jakarta and known as E1, has been operational since December last year and is already serving customers, the company said.
DCI Indonesia says the data center is serving customers from “critical sectors” including banking, telecommunications, manufacturing and state-owned enterprises.
Ritsuo Fukadai is president director of one of those customers, PT Bank Jtrust Indonesia Tbk.
He said: "We chose E1 because DCI offers the best service quality and certification. We are pleased that our data center at E1 is already operational."
The E1 data center has been built in collaboration with Indonesian conglomerate Salim Group. An 11-story facility, it offers 18MW of IT capacity across 30,000 sqm (322,920 sq ft) and can accommodate up to 4,000 racks.
Construction at the site was completed last year, with a topping-out ceremony held in May. DCI Indonesia is keen to push the benefits of the site as a location for edge services, offering low latency connections for businesses in downtown Jakarta.
Speaking at the time of the topping out ceremony, J.C Gani, senior advisor, PT DCI Indonesia Tbk, said: "E1 is a Tier-IV data center, the first of its kind in downtown Jakarta. E1 will provide reliable, secure, and low-latency infrastructure facilities to meet the evolving digitization needs of our clients."
DCI Indonesia also operates data centers from its H2 campus, which sits on 791 hectares in Karawang to the east of Jakarta. It has a total capacity of up to 600MW, and currently offers 27MW of capacity via two data centers, the second of which opened in June last year.
